lobuche-east-peak-climbing-15-days
The 15-Day Lobuche East Peak Climbing Expedition is the premier technical climbing objective in the Everest region, standing at an elevation of 6,119 meters (20,075 ft). Considered more technical than Island Peak and Mera Peak, Lobuche East features steep granite rock slabs, exposed snow ridges, and a sustained 45-to-50-degree glaciated headwall. To build complete physiological acclimatization, the expedition first ascends to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar (5,545 m). Transferring to Lobuche High Camp (5,400 m), you will tackle the midnight alpine push using fixed ropes and crampons to stand on the knife-edge summit crest directly opposite Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and Cholatse.

Itinerary
Follow our carefully planned lobuche-east-peak-climbing-15-days itinerary, designed with proper acclimatization and comfortable trekking days throughout the journey.
Board an early morning mountain flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla. Meet your climbing Sherpa guide and porter team, organize expedition loads, and begin walking downhill along the Dudh Koshi river valley. Pass carved Buddhist Mani walls, prayer wheels, and pine woods through Ghat to check into your lodge in Phakding.
Day 1
Follow the river gorge through Monjo, registering permits at the Sagarmatha National Park entry gate. Cross the high Hillary Suspension Bridge spanning the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers. Climb the sustained forest switchbacks up to the bustling Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar.
Day 2
Climb past Syangboche airstrip to the Everest View Hotel for your first panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. Tour the traditional village of Khumjung to visit the monastery and historic Hillary School before returning to Namche for afternoon rest.
Day 3
Walk along the scenic balcony trail high above the Imja Khola with views of Ama Dablam. Descend stone steps through forest to Phunki Thenga for lunch, then make a steady uphill climb through rhododendron and birch cloud forests to reach the famous Tengboche Monastery on the open ridge.
Day 4
Descend through birch woods to Deboche and cross the rushing Imja Khola on a suspension bridge. Pass through Pangboche village beneath the sheer north face of Ama Dablam, ascending above the tree line into the alpine tundra to the stone-walled fields of Dingboche.
Day 5
Take a steep morning acclimatization hike up Nagarjun Hill (Nangkartshang Peak) directly above Dingboche. Savor panoramas of Makalu (8,485 m), Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam before descending to Dingboche to rest and hydrate.
Day 6
Climb gently along the broad alpine valley to Dughla (Thokla). Tackle the steep switchback climb up the Thokla Pass (4,830 m), visiting the stone memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Follow the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche village.
Day 7
Follow the moraine trail over rocky glacial rubble to Gorak Shep. Drop heavy packs, have a hot lunch, and hike across the active Khumbu Glacier path to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall. Take photos by the landmark marker rock before returning to Gorak Shep.
Day 8
Pre-dawn ascent up the switchbacks of Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for sunrise illuminating Mount Everest, Nuptse, and Pumori. Descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast, then trek back down the valley past Lobuche, branching toward the foot of the mountain to establish camp at Lobuche Base Camp (4,950 m).
Day 9
Climb a steep, rocky path over loose scree and granite boulders to reach Lobuche High Camp (5,400 m) perched beside a frozen tarn. In the afternoon, your climbing Sherpa conducts mandatory technical training on rock and ice: practicing jumar ascending on fixed ropes, safety clipping, crampon placement, and figure-eight abseiling.
Day 10
Wake at 1:00 AM for hot breakfast and gear up under headlamps. Scramble up dark granite slabs and a steep rock gully to Crampon Point. Put on crampons, rope up, and climb the glaciated 45-to-50-degree headwall using fixed lines and jumars. Negotiate the exposed summit snow ridge to top out on Lobuche East (6,119 m) for views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Cholatse. Abseil down to High Camp, pack up, and descend into the valley to sleep in Pheriche.
Day 11
A dedicated buffer day built into the schedule to safeguard against high winds, heavy summit snowfall, or individual acclimatization delays. If the summit was achieved on Day 11, this day provides a relaxed recovery day in Pheriche.
Day 12
Descend through Pangboche and Deboche, climbing the forested ridge to Tengboche Monastery. Drop down the stone switchbacks to Phunki Thenga and contour along the high balcony trail back into the vibrant Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar for celebrations and coffee.
Day 13
Descend the steep forest switchbacks past the Hillary Bridge and exit Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. Trace the Dudh Koshi riverbank past Phakding, making the final uphill climb through the stone gateway of Lukla for an evening celebration dinner with your climbing crew.
Day 14
Board a morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu (or Ramechhap). Meet our private vehicle for transfer to your hotel in Thamel, concluding the complete 15-day Lobuche East Peak Climbing expedition.
Day 15
