Frequently Asked Questions

After summiting Kala Patthar (5,545 m) on Day 9, you board a chartered Airbus H125 high-altitude helicopter directly from Gorak Shep (5,164 m). The helicopter flies you over the entire Khumbu Valley, refueling briefly at Lukla before landing at Kathmandu Airport in approximately 60 to 75 minutes.
At lower elevations (Phakding, Monjo, Namche, Deboche), you stay in premium luxury lodges (such as Yeti Mountain Home or Everest Summit Lodges) featuring heated rooms, electric blankets, private en-suite hot bathrooms, and gourmet dining. At Dingboche, Lobuche, and Gorak Shep, you stay in the finest available deluxe private rooms.
Because the helicopter eliminates the 4-day, 65 km downhill trek from Gorak Shep to Lukla, the trip requires only one-way uphill trekking. However, reaching Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and Kala Patthar (5,545 m) still requires good cardiovascular fitness and proper acclimatization.
