Itinerary
Follow our carefully planned Mount Kangchenjunga Expedition 8,586 m itinerary, designed with proper acclimatization and comfortable trekking days throughout the journey.
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Meet our VIP expedition team and transfer via private luxury vehicle to your 5-star hotel (Dwarika's / Marriott). Attend an evening expedition briefing and welcome dinner with your expedition leader.
Day 1
Attend the mandatory official briefing at the Ministry of Tourism with the government liaison officer. Complete gear inspections and test Summit/Poisk oxygen regulators, masks, and 8000M triple boots with your climbing Sherpa.
Day 2
Take a morning domestic flight to Bhadrapur in eastern Nepal. Meet private 4WD vehicles and drive through the lush green rolling tea gardens of Ilam, settling into your hotel for the evening.
Day 3
Drive along the scenic Mechi Highway winding through terraced hillsides, river valleys, and traditional Limbu villages to reach the mountain gateway of Taplejung and Khebang.
Day 4
Begin trekking along stone pathways through lush subtropical forests, descending to the Kabeli Khola and climbing through terraced cardamom fields to the Sherpa and Limbu village of Yamphudin.
Day 5
Climb steep trails through dense oak, rhododendron, and bamboo cloud forests to cross Lasiya Bhanjyang (3,310 m). Descend along moss-covered paths to the riverside settlement of Tortong beside the Simbua Khola.
Day 6
Follow the Simbua Khola valley uphill through rhododendron and pine woods, passing seasonal yak pastures at Anda Phedi. Enter the alpine zone to reach Cheram, with views of Kabru and Rathong.
Day 7
Ascend past the snout of the Yalung Glacier through lateral moraines and alpine pastures to Ramche (4,580 m). Savor your first close-up view of the colossal south face of Kangchenjunga.
Day 8
Move further onto the Yalung Glacier to establish Advanced Base Camp (5,400 m). The expedition Lama and climbing Sherpas perform the sacred Buddhist Puja ceremony to ask mountain deities for safety and favorable climbing weather.
Day 9
35-Day Climbing & Summit Window:• Rotation 1: Ascend the lower Yalung glacier and icefall to Camp 1 (6,200 m). Climb the snow couloirs and fixed lines to Camp 2 (6,400 m), then descend to Base Camp to rest.• Rotation 2: Climb past the Great Shelf to establish Camp 3 (7,100 m) on steep snow ramps (45°–55°). Spend a night at Camp 3 for acclimatization, then descend to Base Camp for physiological recovery.• Summit Push: Wait for a clear high-pressure window. Ascend sequentially: Base Camp → Camp 1 (6,200 m) → Camp 2 (6,400 m) → Camp 3 (7,100 m / begin oxygen at 2 L/min) → Camp 4 (7,700 m on the upper shelf / increase oxygen to 3-4 L/min).• Summit Night: Depart Camp 4 at 10:00 PM. Ascend the steep snow and ice couloir (The Sickle), navigating technical mixed rock steps and the final summit ridge. Stand on the summit of Mount Kangchenjunga (8,586 m / 28,169 ft) at sunrise. Savor views spanning Makalu, Everest, Lhotse, and the plains of India. Safely rappel down fixed lines back to Camp 2 and Base Camp.
Day 10
Dismantle all high camps, pack all garbage under strict Leave No Trace environmental standards, and organize gear onto pack yaks and porters.
Day 11
Retrace your steps down from the Yalung Glacier through Ramche and Cheram, dropping below the tree line to the riverbank camp at Tortong.
Day 12
Climb back over Lasiya Bhanjyang pass and descend through dense bamboo and oak cloud forests to Yamphudin.
Day 13
Trek down through terraced farmlands to Khebang, meeting private 4WD vehicles for the drive back to the district center of Taplejung.
Day 14
Drive along the Mechi Highway through the scenic green tea estates of Ilam down to the Terai lowlands of Bhadrapur.
Day 15
Board a morning domestic flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu. Meet our private vehicle for transfer to your 5-star hotel for massages and relaxation.
Day 16
Attend the official expedition debriefing at the Ministry of Tourism to formalize summit verification, followed by a gala celebration dinner with company executives.
Day 17
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before our private VIP vehicle transfers you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your international return flight home.

Things To Know
Requires official Nepal Department of Tourism (DoT) 8,000 m Royalty Climbing Permit, Kangchenjunga Conservation Area Project (KCAP) Permit, Restricted Area Permit (RAP), and a certified Government Liaison Officer. Climbers must have prior 7,000 m or 8,000 m climbing experience (e.g., Manaslu, Himlung, Ama Dablam, or Cho Oyu), mastery of crampon/ice axe techniques on 50°–60° slopes, and high cold-weather endurance. Full 8000M down suits and triple boots are mandatory.
